TMHRA Professional Awards Program
2019 will mark the 10th year of the Texas Municipal Human Resources Association’s Professional Awards Program which recognizes and honors outstanding individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to municipal human resources in Texas. Nominations are currently sought for the following four awards:
- Human Resources Management Professional of the Year
Recognizes the human resources professional who has made significant contributions to the field of municipal human resources management in the past 18 months. The recipient must be an Active, Affiliate, Cooperating, or Emeritus member of TMHRA.
- Innovation in Municipal Human Resources Management (Organization)
Recognizes the local government that has developed innovative programs and services to solve municipal human resources management problems and create opportunities for its community to reach its full potential. This award is aimed at programs that have been created or modified in the past 18 months. The recipient must have an Active, Affiliate, Cooperating, or Emeritus member of TMHRA in its organization.
- Rising Star Award
Recognizes a new member who shows exceptional promise of leadership and contribution to the association and profession. Recipients should be in the first five years of their career in public sector human resources management and can include those who have moved into public service mid-career. The recipient must be an Active, Affiliate, Cooperating, or Emeritus member of TMHRA.
- HR Strategic Department of the Year
Recognizes the outstanding contributions that an HR team has made in the past 18 months to their City and the employees they serve. The Strategic HR Department of the Year award acknowledges the efforts made to enhance and further the mission, vision and values of the organization and it’s culture while aligning strategic HR practices and programs.
Nominations may be made by someone familiar with the individual or organization’s work history such as a supervisor, co-worker, subordinate, professional peer, or self. Nominations will only be accepted via the on-line nomination form and submitted with a one-page narrative. The narrative should describe how the individual or organization has made an outstanding contribution to the award category; and, where possible, detail in a clearly measurable format specific results/impacts that have been achieved/produced by the individual or organization (such as dollars saved, amount of productivity increase, etc.).
Judging and Announcement Process
The Chair will convene the TMHRA Awards Committee to review all entries for completeness, eligibility and will make award recommendations to the TMHRA Board of Directors . The announcement and presentation of the TMHRA Professional Awards will be made during the TMHRA Annual Conference.
